The solution to draft problems

The problem:

Draft problems in the chimney can be caused by adverse weather conditions, inappropriate positioning of the chimney or the incorrect design of the flue system. In this case the flue gases will not be reliably discharged and can affect the operational reliability of the appliance's flue system.

The solution:

If the natural draft is too weak, the INJEKT chimney fan can restore a dependable and optimal draft in the chimney.  Flue systems and chimneys must be designed to ensure that the negative pressure needed to safely discharge the flue gas is always available. This means that the INJEKT is a safety relevant component that will ensure approval by the chimney sweep in the event of draft problems.

How it works:

The INJEKT chimney fan is mounted on the chimney inlet and generates a draft in the chimney with its electric blower. A particular feature of the INJEKT is its external mechanism. The INJEKT used a principle of fluid mechanics to locate all of its mechanical components outside the chimney's cross-section.

This arrangement has three advantages:

  1. The chimney cross-section remains clear and freely accessible for the chimney sweep.
  2. The mechanism is outside the hot, aggressive flue gases, thereby minimising maintenance.
  3. The natural draft is retained. Thus the INJEKT chimney fan needs not to run continuously. The flue system remains open even if there is a power failure, and does not impede the discharge of the flue gas.

Applications:

The INJEKT chimney fan from Kutzner + Weber is ideally suited to appliances burning draft-sensitive solid fuels such as wood, pellets, wood chips etc. When used in conjunction with the K+W stove controller it is an effective component within the control system for reducing emissions and increasing operational reliability. In oil and gas appliances, the INJEKT chimney fan can help overcome technical or weather related draft problems; talk to one of our technical advisers.

Control system:

The speed of the INJEKT chimney fan blower is infinitely variable to allow just the right amount of draft to be generated (e.g. strong draft when heating up, low draft when the fire is burning steadily). Triggering can be manual or automatic. Manual control is achieved with a speed regulator positioned close to the appliance.
As part of the K+W stove controller, the regulator is automatically operated when it is needed - at the optimum speed for the particular phase of combustion. For service work by the chimney sweep, the INJEKT chimney fan can be isolated by a service switch directly at the cleaning position. Because the INJEKT chimney fan only cuts in when it is needed, it is very economical.

Installation:

The compact dimensions and light weight allow trouble-free installation at the inlet of all conventional and metal flues. A power cable must be run from the chimney to the boiler for triggering the blower.

Accessories:

Chimney fan adapter. The adapter allows the chimney fan to be fitted to double-walled flue systems. The adapter can be ordered direct for the "Raab DW" and "Raab DW Alkon" chimneys by quoting the type and diameter. The adapter is also available for other makes on request, please supply installation details.
Speed controller. The speed controller is required for manual operation. When installed near to the boiler, it is well placed to activate the chimney fan and regulate the optimum draft in the chimney.
